I’m in the middle of testing Windows 10 for a company wide deployment using bare metal OSD and In-Place Upgrades.

I’ve ran into a big issue along the way when installing the client through a Task Sequence or Manually, it won’t work 😦

The process pops up in task manager then disappears…..  (WHY OH WHYYYY)

The way to get around this is:

  1. Uninstall the Client from your machine (navigate to your ccmsetup folder in command prompt)
    ccmsetup.exe /uninstall /force
  2. Once this has completed, give your machine a little reboot (just to iron out any background processes)
  3. Boot your machine up, Navigate to your SCCM Client Share$ and run the following command (in command prompt)

\\WSH-SCCM\SMS_<yoursitecode>\Client\ccmsetup.exe /skipprereq:windowsupdateagent30-x64.exe /mp:WSH-SCCM /logon SMSSITECODE=AUTO

This will install the client successfully on your machine, skipping the prereq windowsupdateagent which gets blocked when trying to run the standard ccmsetup.exe switch

Copy this command into your Windows 10 Task Sequence Step (Setup Windows and Configuration Manager)

/skipprereq:windowsupdateagent30-x64.exe SMSMP=WSH-SCCM
